Venture Workspace Riverlands Branch: Find Your Third Place

This year, the global shared office space market was valued at US 41.4 billion. By 2029, it is forecast to grow to US 62.75 billion. Hybrid coworking spaces are on the rise globally and in South Africa – and in case you haven’t heard, our new Venture Workspace Riverlands branch launches in January 2025.

“The latest and largest offering in our Western Cape portfolio, this upmarket space is set to attract professionals seeking a P-grade (prime grade) coworking experience. However, as our Venture Workspace Co-Founder, Louis Fourie emphasises, our new operation is more than just a sophisticated office solution. It’s an elevated ‘third place’.

“This relatively new concept refers to a familiar environment distinct from one’s home (the first place) and office (the second place),” he explains. “These spaces, such as cafés, libraries, and most importantly, coworking hubs, serve as community anchors, promoting social connection, creative freedom and a sense of belonging.”

If you’re intrigued by hybrid workspaces and fancy the idea of adopting a third place in 2025, here’s what to expect at Venture Workspace Riverlands

A balance of in-between

Based at the R4.5 billion multi-purpose Riverlands development, Venture Workspace’s Riverlands branch aims to provide a flexible, elevated hub for professional and social collaboration within the precinct.

According to Louis, the intention is to expand the way we perceive coworking offices in South Africa. “We want to create a seamless escape at Riverlands where residents and visitors can arrive to create, exchange ideas, and nurture relationships.”

In addition to 66 serviced offices and 4 spacious semi-serviced (suited for larger operations), the Venture Workspace Riverlands branch will feature a variety of coworking spaces, boardroom options, and two social eateries.

“Yes, we’re raising the bar in terms of sophistication and prestige, but that doesn’t mean it needs to feel clinical and bland,” Louis adds.

“We’ve put immense effort into the overall design and feel across a multi-level facility. Aside from reliable power, high-speed internet and premium caffeine, we’re also providing a diversity of top-tier amenities and services that one’s home, a coffee shop, or a traditional office don’t typically have.”

More of a haven than a hub

As a 14-hectare (34,5-acre) development on the banks of the rehabilitated Liesbeek River, Riverlands will redefine how Cape Town professionals live, work, and engage as an urban community.

“Riverlands offers everything high-profile investors, start-ups, and C-suite leaders could possibly want. Think comprehensive commercial and residential properties mixed in with thoughtful community spaces focusing on personal well-being and lifestyle balance,” Louis adds.

“Riverlands is building its own local business ecosystem, which our new Venture Workspace operation is very much a part of. We’re providing a third place where professionals can escape the monotony of home-to-work-and-back-again or simply enjoy their privacy. They can make this space their own without the hassle of contracts associated with traditional offices.”

With an increasing demand for P-grade (prime grade) serviced coworking spaces in the Western Cape, the Venture Workspace Riverlands branch seeks to satisfy this gap while pioneering a shift towards higher quality workspaces.

“The business landscape is changing,” Louis adds. “People want flexibility around not just how, but where they work. We’re excited to be in the position to offer a sophisticated yet creative alternative that offers the best of both home and office,” he concludes.
